More haste, less speed. How much wisdom and life experience is hidden in this proverb. Times are fast. Most photographers take photos, edit, share, photograph, edit, share … Creating a huge number of photos is relatively easy thanks to „Digital imaging“. After the initial investment in technology, it is free. I have nothing against it. Each of us does what we can. But trust me, sometimes it’s good to slow down, shift to a lower speed and look back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day afternoon I made a cup of coffee for myself and I opened my photo archive. I wanted to see black and white images taken using the infrared light technique. And a big surprise awaited me! I completely forgot about the photos of the American Southwest from 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How was it? I was lucky and I repeatedly visited the USA in a few last years. On my first trip across the Ocean in 2011, I was fascinated by the nature of the National Parks of the American Southwest. Colourful nature, unusual rock shapes for Europeans, a joy to look at. I made a lot of interesting colours photos. But somehow internally I was not completely satisfied with the results. I decided to return a year later. And I chose a completely different approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will sacrifice the colours. The colours distract from the graceful curves of rocks. And I’ll go even further. I will take photos in infrared light. In my mind, I imagine white treetops against a black sky. White clouds are floating in the sky. That’s the main reason why I pack a specially modified Nikon D70 in my backpack. A Kodak infrared gelatin filter is located in front of the chip. It blocks all the light visible to the human eye, so the photo is created only by infrared light, which we do not see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I brought plenty of IR photos from that trip. But I only stored 112 of them in the archive. I have returned to these images 8 years after their creation. The photos bring memories. It is as if I was standing among the rocks again breathing the hot stone in the air \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u011bt\u0161ina fotograf\u016f ka\u017ed\u00fd den fotografuje, upravuje, sd\u00edl\u00ed, fotografuje, upravuje, sd\u00edl\u00ed… Nadprodukce obrazov\u00fdch informac\u00ed je d\u00edky „digit\u00e1lu“ pom\u011brn\u011b jednoduch\u00e1 \u2013 po prvotn\u00ed investici do techniky u\u017e jaksi zadarmo. Nic proti. Ka\u017ed\u00fd z n\u00e1s d\u011bl\u00e1, co um\u00ed. Ale v\u011b\u0159te mi, ob\u010das se vyplat\u00ed zvolnit, p\u0159e\u0159adit na ni\u017e\u0161\u00ed rychlost, ohl\u00e9dnout se zp\u011bt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jednoho l\u00edn\u00e9ho odpoledne jsem si uva\u0159il k\u00e1vu a pono\u0159il se do sv\u00e9ho fotografick\u00e9ho archivu. Cht\u011bl jsem si proj\u00edt \u010dernob\u00edl\u00e9 sn\u00edmky po\u0159\u00edzen\u00e9 technikou sn\u00edm\u00e1n\u00ed infra\u010derven\u00e9ho sv\u011btla. Jak\u00e9 m\u011b v\u0161ak \u010dekalo p\u0159ekvapen\u00ed! \u00dapln\u011b jsem zapomn\u011bl na fotografie z roku 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jak to vlastn\u011b tenkr\u00e1t bylo? B\u011bhem posledn\u00edch n\u011bkolika let jsem m\u011bl to \u0161t\u011bst\u00ed n\u011bkolikr\u00e1t nav\u0161t\u00edvit USA. P\u0159i sv\u00e9 prvn\u00ed cest\u011b za oce\u00e1n v roce 2011 m\u011b okouzlila p\u0159\u00edroda N\u00e1rodn\u00edch park\u016f americk\u00e9ho Jihoz\u00e1padu. Barevn\u00e1 p\u0159\u00edroda, pro Evropana neobvykl\u00e9 skaln\u00ed tvary, ladn\u00e9 k\u0159ivky \u0159ek, prost\u011b radost pohled\u011bt. P\u0159ivezl jsem si spoustu zaj\u00edmav\u00fdch barevn\u00fdch fotografi\u00ed. Ale tak n\u011bjak vnit\u0159n\u011b jsem s v\u00fdsledkem nebyl \u00fapln\u011b spokojen. Rozhodl jsem se za rok vr\u00e1tit. A zvolil jsem \u00fapln\u011b jin\u00fd p\u0159\u00edstup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ob\u011btuji barvy. Sv\u00e1d\u00ed pozornot od ladn\u00fdch k\u0159ivek skal. A p\u016fjdu je\u0161t\u011b d\u00e1l. Nasn\u00edm\u00e1m to kamen\u00ed v infra\u010derven\u00e9m sv\u011btle. V duchu si p\u0159edstavuji b\u00edl\u00e9 koruny strom\u016f proti \u010dern\u00e9 obloze, na kter\u00e9 tu a tam pluj\u00ed sn\u011bhov\u011b b\u00edl\u00e1 oblaka. Do batohu proto bal\u00edm speci\u00e1ln\u011b upraven\u00fd Nikon D70. P\u0159ed \u010dipem m\u00e1 um\u00edst\u011bn infra\u010derven\u00fd \u017eelatinov\u00fd filtr Kodak. Ten blokuje v\u0161echno sv\u011btlo vin\u00edman\u00e9 lidsk\u00fdm okem, tak\u017ee fotografie je vytvo\u0159ena pouze pro n\u00e1s neviditeln\u00fd sv\u011btlem infra\u010derven\u00fdm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na cest\u011b jsem ud\u011blal spoustu IR fotografi\u00ed. Do archivu jsem v\u0161ak n\u00e1sledn\u011b ulo\u017eil pouze 112 nejpoveden\u011bj\u0161\u00edch. A k t\u011bmto sn\u00edmk\u016fm jsem se po 8 letech od jejich vzniku nyn\u00ed vr\u00e1til. Pe\u010dliv\u011b vyvolan\u00e9 vyb\u00edzej\u00ed ke vzpom\u00ednk\u00e1m.
